Why did you decide to found Navigo Malta?

Malta has become a popular destination within the yachting industry due to new marinas being built to host super yachts and yards catering for servicing super yachts, not to mention the popularity of the Maltese flag which flies as probably the most popular flag on yachts. Navigo Malta, together with Navigo Italy, will be the link between the trades offering a super yacht service and the captains and yacht management companies seeking companies who are trust worthy to work on their yacht. Navigo will help to assist captains to find the right company for the right job.

Malta è diventata una destinazione popolare nell’industria dello yachting grazie a nuovi marina che sono stati costruiti per ospitare superyacht, oltre a cantieri e servizi di catering, per non parlare della popolarità della bandiera maltese che è tra le più presenti sulle imbarcazioni.

Navigo Malta, insieme a Navigo Italia, sarà il collegamento tra chi offre un servizio ai superyacht e i comandanti e le aziende di yacht management, cercando imprese che siano affidabili sul lavoro a bordo degli yacht. Navigo aiuterà i comandanti a trovare la giusta impresa per uno specifico lavoro.

During the past ten years, Navigo Italy has been a reference to many captains and has been the aid to bridge the gap between captains and companies offering a service within the trade. What are your main objectives?

The main objective of Navigo Malta is to regularise Maltese companies offering a service within the yachting industry and to facilitate their exposures all around the world to which without Navigo Malta, it would be a lengthy process and extremely costly.

Il principale obiettivo di Navigo Malta è di regolarizzare le imprese maltesi offrendo un servizio nell’industria dello yachting e di facilitare la loro presenza in giro per il mondo che, senza Navigo Malta, sarebbe un processo lento ed estremamente costoso.

How is the relationship between Malta and Italy? And how can it grow?

During the last five years, thousands of Italian companies have chosen Malta as an extension to their business or to conduct business through. Malta, as Italy, part of the European Union and being so close to Sicily, enjoys optimal relations with Italy, not only governmental but also on a personal level. More than half of the Maltese population can communicate in Italian and therefore this facilitates the business and personal relation between the two countries as the language barrier is put to a minimum.

This relation is being enhanced year after year through the increase in businesses between the two countries and due to the many Italians visiting Malta, not only for pleasure, but also to conduct businesses, also due to the advantages in the taxation.

Come sono i rapporti tra Malta e Italia? E come possono crescere?

Durante gli ultimi cinque anni, migliaia di imprese italiane hanno scelto Malta come estensione del loro business o per condurvi attività. Malta, come l’Italia fa parte dell’Unione Europea ed è molto vicina alla Sicilia, gode di ottime relazioni con l’Italia, non solo governative ma anche a livello personale. Più della metà della popolazione maltese può comunicare in italiano e questo facilita il business e le relazioni tra i due Paesi, grazie al fatto che la barriera linguistica è ridotta al minimo.

What are the similarities between Italian nautical and the Maltese? And what the differences?

In Malta, the yachting experience is less complicated then one can experience in Italy as although there are the regulations and scrutineering required by the EU, being a smaller country there is less bureaucracy, and probably this would also be the reason as to why Malta enjoys a very popular flag registrations. Nevertheless, both countries being part of the EU, the nautical laws are similar.

Quali sono le similitudini tra la nautica italiana e quella maltese? E quali le differenze?

A Malta, l’esperienza dello yachting è meno complicata di quanto si possa sperimentare in Italia, nonostante ci siano regolamenti e richieste da parte dell’Unione Europea da rispettare.

Essendo un piccolo Paese, a Malta c’è meno burocrazia e probabilmente questa potrebbe essere anche la ragione per cui godiamo di una certa popolarità nella registrazione delle imbarcazioni. Tuttavia, entrambi i Paesi sono parte dell’Unione Europea e le leggi sono simili.

What do you think about Mediterranean Sea Economy?

The Mediterranean can offer enormous attractions to the yachting industry, be it site seeing and also tradesmanship. If one takes Tuscany as a basic example, one would immediately realise the number of high quality yachting services and yacht building being conducted. The Mediterranean does not only offer quality workmanship on super yachts, but apart from the beauty of the seas, one would surely appreciate the unique history which varies from one part to the other. The Mediterranean is a story teller on its own, in Malta alone one could enjoy prehistoric temples dating 5200 BC to the ports which have experienced many wars during their time. Having these impeccable assets, the Mediterranean has so much to offer and so much more work can be done to attract more super yachts sail and remain within the Mediterranean.

Cosa pensi dell’Economia del Mare del Mediterraneo?

Il Mediterraneo può offrire enormi attrazioni per l’industria dello yachting, sia come luogo da visitare che per i suoi cantieri nautici.

Se si prendesse la Toscana come esempio di base, ci si renderebbe immediatamente conto del numero di servizi di alta qualità nello yachting e nella costruzione di yacht che vi si svolgono.

Il Mediterraneo non offre solo una qualità di manodopera sui superyacht, ma a parte la bellezza dei mari, ciascuno apprezzerebbe sicuramente la storia unica che cambia da una parte all’altra.

Il Mediterraneo è uno story teller di se stesso, soltanto a Malta è possibile apprezzare dai templi preistorici datati 5.200 a. C ai porti che hanno subito molte guerre nel corso del tempo.

Il Mediterraneo ha così tanto da offrire, ma anche così tanto lavoro in più da fare per attrarre più superyacht, per navigare e per sostare.
